About the Role

The University of Georgia's Carl Vinson Institute of Government is a public service and outreach unit dedicated to improving communities across Georgia through research, education, and innovative solutions. The institute focuses on areas such as workforce and economic development, infrastructure resilience, government efficiency, and technology integration. This position supports the institute's marketing and digital communications efforts to promote its services, programs, and initiatives, contributing to the university's mission of public service and community betterment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage content and design efforts on cviog.uga.edu and other Institute of Government web properties.
  • Develop, coordinate, and publish engaging website content, including landing pages and intranet materials.
  • Design and build new landing pages as needed.
  • Implement best practices in Search Engine Optimization and deploy related techniques.
  • Provide regular insights and reports on digital performance.
  • Lead social media efforts by developing and publishing high-quality content across Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn.
  • Manage and execute digital content strategy across social channels, including managing content calendar and leveraging analytics to inform strategy.
  • Manage analytics and reporting for organic and paid social media campaigns.
  • Lead email marketing strategies, manage newsletter production, and optimize campaigns based on engagement data.
  • Build, design, and send emails using platforms such as Constant Contact and Mailchimp.
  • Manage web development efforts, including maintaining and assessing design and functionality of web properties.
  • Work with leadership to prioritize website upgrades and manage vendors for web development projects.
  • Support digital advertising efforts by developing marketing collateral, managing campaigns, and analyzing performance metrics.
  • Conduct audience research and stay current on web development and digital trends.
  • Support content development and marketing efforts for Institute clients, managing projects and advising on digital marketing best practices.

Requirements

  • Requires at least a baccalaureate degree in the field.
  • Professional experience in marketing, advertising, communications, or related field.
  • Experience managing social media channels such as Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn.
  • Experience with email marketing platforms like Constant Contact and Mailchimp.
  • Strong project and content management skills.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with digital metrics and data analysis, including Google Analytics.
  • Knowledge of search engine optimization (SEO).
  • Knowledge of web development and basic front-end HTML and scripting.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Ability to develop visual assets for digital platforms.
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Knowledge of web accessibility standards.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with web accessibility and SEO.
  • Knowledge of front-end web development and coding such as JavaScript, HTML, and CSS.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of a baccalaureate degree in the relevant field.
