The role involves leading a product team responsible for digital wallets, central to developing products that make membership essential and generate revenue streams for American Express.

Key Responsibilities

  • Formulate a comprehensive strategy for the creation and expansion of digital wallet offerings and underlying platform capabilities, including agentic payments, grounded in user needs, the competitive landscape, emerging technologies, and strategic partnerships, aligned with broader company goals.
  • Drive the development and execution of a detailed product roadmap, prioritizing features and enhancements to optimize user engagement, repeat usage, and customer experience.
  • Collaborate closely with engineering, business development, enablement, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless integration of features, timely delivery, and alignment with technical feasibility and user experience standards.
  • Cultivate relationships with partner counterparts to support joint product goals.
  • Utilize qualitative and quantitative data analysis techniques to gain deep insights into user behavior, preferences, and trends, and leverage findings to refine product strategies, improve user experience, and drive growth.
  • Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and regularly monitor product performance to identify opportunities for optimization.
  • Provide authentic and empathetic leadership to the product team, fostering a collaborative and high-performing culture, encouraging innovation, continuous learning, and accountability.

Requirements

  • Experience in payments, commerce and AI, with demonstrated results driving meaningful value in customer facing experiences.
  • Strong leadership skills and passion for colleague development, with the ability to coach, mentor, and guide direct reports.
  • A history of managing scaled products and transforming ideas into go-to-market capabilities.
  • Technically literate with a deep appreciation of the engineering discipline and partnership.
  • Experience successfully managing and growing partner relationships.
  • Energy and drive to ensure product success and impact, with a keen eye for detail and ability to analyze key metrics to identify opportunities or problems.
  • Clear and concise communication skills to convey product strategy and vision, with the ability to explain complex concepts to a broad audience.
  • Ability to prioritize roadmaps across multiple competing priorities and timelines, considering user needs, technical feasibility, and business outcomes.
  • Understanding of customer research frameworks and principles, with knowledge of industry and customer needs.
