About the Role

The Director, Marketing GenAI Content Strategy and Advancement Lead at Genentech is responsible for defining and aligning GenAI business requirements with content creation and execution strategies. This role supports the digital marketing transformation by ensuring high-quality, scalable content delivery through GenAI tools and processes. The position involves collaboration across marketing, analytics, operations, and other functional partners to drive innovative content solutions that meet brand goals and improve efficiency, ultimately contributing to improved patient outcomes and business impact.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with brand marketing to identify opportunities to optimize impact and improve efficiency across content creation and approval.
  • Stay at the forefront of content innovation and GenAI for content landscape, identifying new innovations and sharing actionable insights with internal teams.
  • Identify and implement content product tool enhancements in partnership with functional partners to meet evolving marketing needs.
  • Define business needs, prioritize features, and partner with Product Owners to shape roadmaps and support the development of impactful tools and capabilities.
  • Review and validate products to ensure alignment with strategic objectives and readiness for activation.
  • Develop robust launch plans, playbooks, and support plans to guide successful product launches.
  • Drive adoption of content products through training, coaching, and engagement of activation champions, as well as broader upskilling initiatives.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure seamless integration of content strategies into workflows across marketing functions, external agencies, and channels.
  • Lead process and product improvements to drive adoption and scale, partnering with executive leaders on change management and training strategies.
  • Set and track KPIs to measure content efficiencies and effectiveness, using insights to optimize processes.
  • Continuously explore and assess emerging GenAI use cases for content to drive business impact, collaborating with technical teams.
  • Engage governance bodies to ensure responsible AI use across marketing initiatives.
  • Mobilize and lead cross-functional teams across the CMG network, leveraging domain expertise and content priorities.
  • Operate autonomously with a bias toward action, aligned with enterprise marketing objectives and content goals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Minimum of 8 years of work experience, including at least 6 years in sales, marketing, market access, or customer insights, with two years in marketing.
  • Experience with owning tactics or pieces of content development, from strategy through execution.
  • Ability to articulate business problems, identify solutions, and manage content initiatives.
  • Strong understanding of digital marketing and GenAI trends, technologies, and best practices.
  • Experience in creating marketing strategies, plans, and tactics that strengthen market positioning and drive high-value outcomes.
  • Proven leadership in managing cross-functional teams and large-scale content initiatives.
  • Deep knowledge of pharma-specific content creation processes across digital and print channels.
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements for digital content in the pharmaceutical industry.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and attention to detail skills.
  • Ability to think with an enterprise mindset and adapt in a transformational environment.
  • Strong business acumen, presentation skills, and project management capabilities.

  • MBA or other related graduate-level degree
  • Experience in the managed care, pharmaceutical, or biotech industry
  • Experience creating marketing strategies that have strengthened market positioning and financial results

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 8+ years of relevant work experience, including 6+ years in marketing or related fields
  • Experience with content development and digital marketing in regulated industries

  • Expected salary range of $187,100 - $347,500 based on experience and location
