About the Role

The Director, Marketing - Pet Therapeutics at Boehringer Ingelheim Animal Health USA is responsible for overseeing and leading the development, implementation, and monitoring of brand strategies for the U.S. Pet Therapeutic portfolio. The role involves contributing to the discovery, development, and delivery of products to patients and customers, with opportunities for international collaboration within a global company that values its employees and offers competitive compensation and benefits.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and direct the development of brand objectives and strategic plans.
  • Oversee development of tactical plans such as sales/promotional tools, conventions/symposia, PR/media, web strategy, and market research to ensure attainment of annual goals.
  • Represent and lead the development and implementation of brand positioning, messaging, and brand personality along with technical strategies with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Coordinate the development of scientific data in support of the brand while ensuring strategic direction is communicated and executed by external agencies.
  • Forecast and monitor Gross and Net Sales for the brands to ensure contributions align with corporate expectations.
  • Meet financial targets for the brands including net sales, discounts, and market share.
  • Review product and market performance, competitive intelligence, field force capacity, and market research to identify growth opportunities and hurdles.
  • Communicate insights and recommendations to the team.
  • Chair and lead cross-functional teams involving Marketing, Sales, Technical, Market Research, Regulatory, Global Marketing, and Legal.
  • Ensure department is staffed with qualified personnel, administer salary and reward programs, and guide disciplinary actions.
  • Develop actionable MAG plans, provide feedback, and conduct reviews.
  • Identify performance challenges, create action plans, and monitor their effectiveness.
  • Provide input to market research on study design and interpret findings to refine marketing strategies.
  • Utilize CRM tools to drive marketing strategies and tactics to targeted customers and implement through the sales force.
  • Develop and coordinate annual business plans and work with Key Opinion Leaders to validate and optimize brand strategies.
  • Communicate strategic direction to internal partners to ensure alignment.
  • Conduct all business in accordance with regulations and company policies, maintaining high ethical standards.
  • Collaborate with Global Marketing counterparts.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution; DVM degree (veterinary diploma) and/or MBA preferred.
  • Minimum eight (8) years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry, including four (4) years of US pharmaceutical marketing experience or relevant experience.
  • Four (4) to six (6) years of leadership experience.
  • Strong leadership, negotiation, and project management skills.
  • Ability to monitor budget and resources effectively.
  • Proven ability to achieve results in a highly matrixed organization.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, creativity, and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, Outlook, and database applications.
  • Ability to travel, including overnight travel.
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States without restriction.
  • Willingness to take a drug test and post-offer physical if required.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.

Nice to Have

  • DVM degree (veterinary diploma) and/or MBA from an accredited institution.
