About the Role

The Director, New Product Commercialization at Neurocrine Biosciences is responsible for providing commercial input into lifecycle strategy, business development, and product and portfolio assessments across various therapeutic areas including Neurology, Neuroimmunology, Neuroendocrinology, or Psychiatry. This role involves active participation in early commercial planning and market research for therapeutic candidates from pre-clinical to early phase three, supporting the company's mission to develop life-changing treatments for neurological and neuropsychiatric disorders within a strong, inclusive, and purpose-driven culture.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plans and conducts market research and analyses to maximize the value of product candidates and research programs in existing and new therapeutic areas.
  • Defines Target Product Profiles (TPPs) for cross-functional R&D teams developing novel therapeutic candidates to inform asset opportunities.
  • Works with Clinical Development and Medical Affairs to identify and gain insights from scientific thought leaders to inform clinical and commercial development plans.
  • Supports Business Development activities, including commercial due diligence on licensing, acquisition, and collaboration opportunities.
  • Participates in the development of revenue forecasts and risk-adjusted net present value (NPV) models for portfolio compounds in collaboration with key business partners.
  • Partners with cross-functional colleagues to support lifecycle management activities and decision-making.
  • Provides customer insights and recommendations to inform clinical development, formulations, dosing, endpoints, and evidence generation plans.
  • Works closely with HEOR and Market Access teams to build evidence generation and differentiation for optimal access in the US and globally.
  • Monitors competitive therapies to inform development strategies and strengthen product profiles.
  • Conducts assessments of ex-US commercial potential, develops early launch plans, and assists with partnership discussions.
  • Participates actively on cross-functional product development sub-teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree, preferably with a neuroscience concentration; PhD, MBA, or advanced degree is a plus, especially in marketing or business disciplines.
  • A minimum of 5-10 years of experience in new product commercialization, management consulting, business development, or related disciplines within biotechnology or pharmaceutical industries.
  • Thorough knowledge of new product commercialization and in-line brand management principles relevant to pharmaceutical or biologic therapeutics.
  • Exceptional data analytics, forecasting, and market research skills with the ability to interpret insights for strategic decisions.
  • Outstanding communication and presentation skills, including strong written and oral abilities.
  • Demonstrated cross-functional leadership and ability to collaborate across scientific and business teams.
  • Excellent teamwork and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of biotechnology or pharmaceutical markets, including pricing, reimbursement, and market access principles across multiple regions.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with market access and reimbursement strategies.
  • Experience in international or ex-US markets.
