About the Role

The Director of Business Development - Asia Market Expansion at Sol de Janeiro is responsible for supporting the company's growth across Asian markets, including China, Japan, and Southeast Asia. The role involves strategizing market entry, supporting launches, and coordinating regional business activities from the global headquarters in New York. The position requires a strategic thinker with international business experience and strong cross-functional management skills, working in a fast-paced, multicultural environment.

Key Responsibilities

Conduct market research, develop go-to-market strategies, monitor market trends, analyze competitive landscapes, and perform business analysis and planning.
Support market launches and assist in execution of market entry strategies.
Collaborate with marketing, sales, product, and operations teams to ensure successful market entry and sustainable growth.
Lead regional strategy and planning efforts including market analysis, retail distribution setup, investment evaluations, and business planning.
Develop regional business cases and analysis to support market entry, distribution models, and resource allocation decisions.
Support strategic assessments of market entry opportunities, considering commercial, logistical, and regulatory implications.
Monitor developments in the Asia-Pacific region that may impact business strategy.
Collaborate with leadership to define long-term regional structure and resource needs.
Lead internal strategic analysis and due diligence for expansion activities.
Partner with project management and global marketing to plan and execute regional initiatives.
Liaise with internal departments to facilitate project execution and resolve issues.
Prepare executive proposals, strategic memos, and presentation decks for regional performance and initiatives.
Consolidate input from cross-functional teams for strategic meetings and business reviews, and track follow-up actions.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Strategy, or a related field; MBA or other advanced degree preferred.
6-8+ years of experience in commercial strategy, corporate development, international business, or financial planning roles.
Strong understanding of P&L management, investment planning, and business case development.
Exceptional project management skills with the ability to lead and coordinate across multiple functions.
Experience in global or regional roles with Asia-Pacific exposure.
Highly skilled in building strategic presentations, financial models, and decision-support materials for senior leadership.
Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to drive execution in complex, fast-paced environments.
Fluency in English required; proficiency in Mandarin or other Asian languages is a plus but not required.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Strategy, or a related field.
6-8+ years of relevant experience in related roles.
