Job Description

About the Role

SMX is seeking a Director of Business Development to lead and grow high-visibility enterprise technology transformation programs for Air Force and Space Force customers. The role involves managing business development strategy, planning, and execution in strategic accounts, leveraging deep mission understanding in areas such as Cloud, Cyber, Digital Modernization, Data, and Systems Engineering & Integration. The position offers an opportunity to build and grow solutions businesses with SMX’s national leadership in cloud and digital transformation, with a focus on AF/SF missions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage AF/SF business development strategy, planning, and execution in strategic accounts.
  • Perform market analysis, strategic business planning, and capture strategy/solution development.
  • Engage with customers and support proposal responses.
  • Oversee customer contact and positioning, opportunity pipeline management, forecasting, and capture management.
  • Coordinate with internal teams including business development, program management, solution architecture, and growth resources.
  • Support company initiatives and work closely with program leadership.
  • Leverage relationships with AF/SF stakeholders and develop new relationships.
  • Contribute to proposals and the RFI, RFQ, or RFP process.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 8 years of related experience in the DOD market.
  • At least 6 years of experience selling or supporting solutions for the AF/SF mission in target accounts/markets.
  • Active Secret Clearance.
  • Track record of successfully capturing and winning >$25M multi-year new business RFPs.
  • Established relationships with AF/SF customers, stakeholders, and influencers.
  • Experience interacting with senior government and industry acquisition officials.
  • Understanding of the full business development lifecycle within federal markets.
  • Proactive, organized, and highly skilled professional.
  • Experience contributing to proposals and the RFI, RFQ, or RFP process.
  • In-depth knowledge of the AF/SF market landscape and existing contracts.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.

Nice to Have

  • TS/SCI clearance (preferred).
  • Additional knowledge in Enterprise IT, Cyber Operations, ITSM, Managed Services, Data Center, Cloud Migration, Data Transport, Systems Integration, Application Development, Modernization, Big Data, and Data Analytics.
  • Prior military service with the AF.
