About the Role

At CesiumAstro, we are developers and pioneers of out-of-the-box communication systems for satellites, UAVs, launch vehicles, and other space and airborne platforms. The Director of Business Development will be responsible for marketing, sales, and developing business opportunities and relationships with potential customers in the space and aerospace industry, with a broad scope including market analysis, strategic planning, and revenue growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and continuously update the commercial and DOD aerospace telecommunication electronics market potential and trends.
  • Identify opportunities, write and submit RFI and RFP responses.
  • Visit existing and potential customers to build relationships.
  • Interface with engineering and product development staff to articulate market gaps and demands.
  • Assist in the strategic and R&D roadmaps for the company.
  • Lead the top line revenue growth for the company.
  • Support new business development opportunities to improve the company's business portfolio, including marketing and customer call plans.
  • Lead opportunity captures including developing overall win strategy, shaping deals with customers, developing teaming strategies, and understanding pricing.
  • Develop and execute business plans.
  • Demonstrate solution selling and develop new markets from inception to engagement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical or business-related discipline from an accredited college or university.
  • Minimum 10 years of relevant business development experience in space or aerospace industry segments.
  • In-depth knowledge of market analytics, technology planning, and commercialization.
  • Experience leading opportunity captures, developing win strategies, and closing deals.
  • Background in solution selling and developing new markets with proven leadership.
  • Knowledge of government contracting, acquisition trends, and customer buying behaviors.
  • Prior experience developing business with government and DoD customers.
  • Proven ability to develop and execute business plans.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
  • Strong interpersonal and professional skills.
  • A positive, team-player attitude.
  • Effective presentation skills and experience leading customer meetings.

Nice to Have

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering.
  • MBA degree.
  • Experience with the New Space industry.
  • Experience with the aerospace telecommunications industry.
  • Experience with startups.
  • Ability to obtain a U.S. Government Security Clearance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical or business-related discipline.

  • Full-time employment with a salary range of $185,000 - $230,000 per year.
