Job Description

About the Role

The purpose of the Director of Marketing role is to oversee the Gordon Flesch Company's Marketing department to create and execute a marketing strategy that accomplishes the goals and objectives of the organization. The role involves advising, directing, and managing all aspects of the marketing department, working with Sales to maximize the profitability of the products and services sold, and developing a strategic marketing plan aligned with organizational goals and industry trends.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work cross-functionally with company owners, executive leadership team, and branch managers to develop a multi-channel fully integrated annual marketing plan.
  • Work with senior staff to develop support and maintain a strategic perspective in organizational direction based on marketplace and industry trends, customer needs, and satisfaction.
  • Create, develop, and lead the Marketing team to execute an integrated cross-platform social media strategy that is measurable and impactful, driving awareness and brand affinity.
  • Focus on creating high traffic blog content, lead converting resources, and sharable creative projects.
  • Develop successful direct mail campaigns that create leads and drive sales.
  • Ensure consistent appropriate articulation of the company image and brand promise both inside and outside the organization, including during the RFP process.
  • Leverage RFP automation software Loopio to assist the sales team in developing responses to Requests For Proposals.
  • Leverage inbound marketing automation software Hubspot to ensure marketing team and overall content meet or exceed company goals.
  • Drive key business metrics including leads, MQLs, SQLs, and Opportunities, making data-driven decisions based on valid metrics.
  • Lead, execute, and coordinate all aspects of special organizational initiatives such as Key Account Management, including strategy, messaging, tactics, and tools.
  • Manage and facilitate the marketing side of partner relationships with key product and service providers to leverage marketing assets.
  • Lead, direct, and oversee all outside marketing firms such as agencies and vendors supporting the annual marketing plan.
  • Negotiate and manage activation of all sponsorships with sports teams and local event providers.
  • Coordinate sales events including timelines, venues, vendors, and budgets, and identify and secure speakers or entertainment.
  • Analyze event success and propose improvements, follow up with surveys, and report on Net Promoter Scores.
  • Provide creative direction on brand-level video, web, and graphic design projects.
  • Develop in-house photography and video content to support project needs.
  • Establish a strategic approach to PR that adds value to industry and channel media.
  • Coordinate the appearance of all marketing assets and materials, both digital and printed.
  • Develop short and long-term plans and budgets for marketing, communications, and PR activities, and monitor progress.
  • Supervise the marketing team, including hiring, firing, work allocation, training, and problem resolution.
  • Support and advocate the company’s mission, vision, values, and guiding principles.
  • Conduct leadership components of performance reviews, including goal setting, progress review, and documentation.
  • Ensure a safe work environment in compliance with OSHA standards.
  • Make administrative and procedural decisions independently as needed.
  • Perform miscellaneous job duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or comparable level of experience with a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • 8-10 years of marketing experience.
  • 3-5 years of supervisory experience.
  • Experience in direct and interactive marketing.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Proficient in MS Office applications.
