About the Role

Natera is seeking a Director of Marketing to lead strategy and execution for their Empower Hereditary Cancer Test. The role involves defining and articulating the value of hereditary cancer testing to clinicians and patients, positioning Empower as a premier offering within the Oncology portfolio. The position requires cross-functional leadership, working closely with medical affairs, product management, and commercial teams to drive awareness, adoption, and growth. This is a remote position based in San Carlos, CA, with travel up to 25%. Natera is a global leader in cell-free DNA testing, dedicated to oncology, women's health, and organ health, aiming to make personalized genetic testing part of standard care to enable earlier and targeted interventions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute strategic and tactical marketing plans for Empower.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to align messaging with market needs and clinical evidence.
  • Identify key market opportunities and gaps; drive initiatives to meet or exceed commercial goals.
  • Lead the development of marketing assets and sales enablement tools tailored to the Empower product.
  • Manage agency and vendor relationships to build and execute integrated campaigns.
  • Support Empower's alignment and positioning within the broader oncology testing ecosystem.
  • Present marketing strategies, insights, and campaign performance to executive leadership.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in life sciences required; MBA or PhD strongly preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in diagnostics, biotech, or pharmaceutical marketing, with a focus on oncology or genomics.
  • Direct experience with hereditary cancer testing is highly desirable.
  • Willingness to travel up to 25% for advisory boards, conferences, sales/marketing meetings, and customer engagements.
  • Deep knowledge of the hereditary cancer and genetic testing landscape.
  • Proven ability to create compelling messaging for clinical and patient audiences.
  • Ability to translate complex scientific and technical concepts into accessible marketing content.
  • Exceptional communication, leadership, and strategic planning skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills; ability to handle multiple projects concurrently.
  • Demonstrated customer orientation and stakeholder engagement experience.
  • Skilled in building and nurturing relationships with industry thought leaders.

  • Experience working in oncology or genomics marketing.
  • Experience managing cross-functional teams and external vendors.
  • Knowledge of the broader oncology testing ecosystem.

Qualifications

  • Doctoral, Master's, or Bachelor's degree in relevant fields.
  • 10+ years of experience in diagnostics, biotech, or pharmaceutical marketing.
