About the Role

The Director of Product, Growth position will report to the Chief Product Officer. The role involves driving experimentation on product funnels, defining and executing strategies to engage and nurture customers, partnering with engineering, data, and marketing teams, leading product launches and cross-sell initiatives, developing APIs and embedded experiences for growth, and managing a small team of Product Managers. The company, Earnest, aims to make higher education accessible and affordable by providing tools such as private student loans, student loan refinancing, and scholarships to help students manage their debt and financial future.

Key Responsibilities

Drive experimentation on product funnels to optimize performance and maximize customer loan origination.
Define and execute a product strategy to engage and nurture customers who are not yet ready to become Earnest customers but will be in the future.
Partner with engineering, data, and marketing teams to ensure a strong foundation for testing, personalization, and funnel optimization.
Lead product launches, drive engagement, and cross-sell from existing customers.
Develop APIs and embedded experiences to drive growth from partners serving similar customer bases.
Lead and develop a small team of Product Managers as a player/coach.

Requirements

7+ years of experience launching and growing successful consumer digital lending or fintech products.
2+ years of experience leading a team of Product Managers.
Experience optimizing online customer acquisition funnels across multiple channels and products.
Experience growing engagement from existing customers and cross-selling/monetizing engagement.
A data-driven philosophy influencing build and pivot decisions.
Deep experience setting up, running, and measuring A/B tests.
Ability to manage and optimize a testing roadmap based on opportunity size, customer insights, data analysis, and testing learnings.
Experience integrating martech infrastructure to enable growth through marketing and sales channels.
Bachelor's degree in a technical field.

Nice to Have

Experience with sophisticated testing methodologies such as contextual, multi-arm bandits.
Experience launching growth features or freemium offerings from 0-1.
Experience partnering closely with marketing teams to open new distribution channels.
Experience building embedded product experiences with partners.
