About the Role

The Director of Strategic Accounts at BlueScope Buildings North America (BBNA) is responsible for leading the strategic account strategy, building long-term partnerships, and driving growth in key market segments within the construction industry. This role involves developing and executing visionary sales strategies to maximize revenue, enhance market presence, and deliver value to clients and partners. The position emphasizes leadership, innovation, and customer-centric approaches to achieve ambitious sales targets and expand market share.

Key Responsibilities

  • Craft and implement bold strategic account plans to achieve sales targets and expand market share.
  • Forge deep, trusted relationships with key clients, understanding their business needs and aligning solutions to deliver value.
  • Inspire, mentor, and develop a high-performing strategic accounts team, fostering a culture of innovation and excellence.
  • Lead the execution of innovative sales strategies, including presentations, proposals, and negotiations.
  • Stay ahead of market trends, competitor activities, and customer feedback to inform strategic direction.
  • Identify and create new opportunities with key builders and partners to land and expand key accounts.
  • Develop account strategies aligned with desired business mix and construction methods.
  • Drive insight-led and consultative selling approaches to build and accelerate a sales pipeline.
  • Collaborate with internal teams such as segment GMs, sales organizations, and builder services to ensure alignment and deliver exceptional client experiences.
  • Monitor key metrics, provide updates to senior management, and strive for performance excellence.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business, Marketing, or a related field; MBA preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in strategic sales account management, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Proven experience in leading a strategic accounts group; background in consultation and insight-led selling is essential.
  • Strong strategic, critical thinking, and relationship-building skills.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation abilities.
  • Proficiency in sales methodologies, tools, and techniques, including CRM software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong understanding of key markets, industry trends, and regional business economics.
  • Ability to lead and motivate a team, holding it accountable to sales practices.
  • Enterprise-wide mindset to execute company-level strategies across multiple brands.

Nice to Have

  • Background in engineering is highly desirable.
