About the Role

The Director, Salesperson, GFI Rates Sales / US FICC / Global Capital Markets role at Scotiabank involves contributing to the success of the NY Rates Sales in US - FICC, supporting business strategies and ensuring compliance with regulations and internal policies. The position is part of a global banking and markets division that provides a full range of investment banking, credit, and risk management products, with a focus on driving client relationships and operational excellence in a high-performing, inclusive culture.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive the client franchise by actively seeking opportunities to provide holistic, seamless coverage across products for the client base.
  • Distribute a diverse range of products to established clients.
  • Champion a customer-focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader bank relationships, systems, and knowledge.
  • Support all client trades by maintaining communication with clients, traders, salespersons, and other relevant personnel to ensure efficient and accurate execution of transactions.
  • Develop and demonstrate knowledge of products, markets, customer needs, trader mannerisms, and systems to perform accountabilities successfully.
  • Strengthen Scotiabank's relationship with clients by scheduling meetings and/or events to introduce, educate, or discuss relevant events, products, and firm-wide views.
  • Perform structuring, analytic, due diligence, and client compliance functions.
  • Understand and consider the bank's risk appetite and risk culture in daily activities and decisions.
  • Ensure effective and efficient operations within their area, maintaining high standards of diligence and performance, and managing operational, regulatory, AML/ATF, and conduct risks.
  • Mentor and train junior team members, leading by example.

Requirements

  • Series 7 & 63 licenses.
  • Deep product knowledge and experience in CAD and US Derivatives, Governments, SSAs, and other Spread Products.
  • 10+ years of experience in the Global Rates market.
  • University Education is required.
  • CFA, MBA, or graduate work is considered an asset.
