About the Role

The District Manager at Family Dollar is responsible for overseeing the operations of up to 20 stores, maximizing profits, and leading a team through hiring, training, and motivating staff. The role involves managing merchandising, operational, and expense control programs in a fast-paced retail environment, with opportunities for advancement and comprehensive training provided.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and evaluate the merchandising, operational, and expense control programs for up to 20 Family Dollar stores.
  • Hire, train, and motivate team members to achieve operational goals.
  • Exceed sales, profitability, and expense management targets through implementation of established programs and processes.
  • Manage operational budgets and develop short and long-term goals.
  • Source, recruit, select, and develop diverse talent for the district.
  • Participate in special projects and future initiatives as needed.
  • Demonstrate strong analytical, organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills with all levels of management.
  • Handle Human Resource and Asset Protection issues.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of retail experience with a minimum of 2 years in multi-store management.
  • Ability to build an effective team and demonstrate strong business acumen.
  • Customer service focused with the ability to make quality decisions.
  • Experience sourcing, identifying, and developing direct reports.
  • Ability to manage through systems and exhibit managerial courage.
  • Process management skills and the ability to motivate others.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • High School diploma or GED required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Willingness to travel up to 25% with occasional overnight stays.
  • Ability to relocate is a plus.

Nice to Have

  • Experience in discount, grocery, drug store, or variety store multi-unit management.
  • Strong presentation skills.
