About the Role

The District Sales Manager (DSM) role requires exceptional management of sales performance among Sales Consultants (SCs). This position is responsible for driving a performance culture, coaching and developing the talent of their sales consultants to achieve profitable planned case and gross profit (GP) growth. The role involves territory management, customer engagement, and supporting national campaigns within the specified MN areas, beginning with an upcoming sales class on August 25th.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manages the performance and development of Sales Consultants (SCs) within the district.
  • Engages in one-on-one coaching and direction by conducting an average of 3-5 SC work-withs a week.
  • Effectively lead and facilitate Friday district meetings that educate, inspire and produce key behavior changes to drive sales.
  • Lead and direct Customer Engagement efforts by enabling the district SC to provide customers with expanded service channel options, including technology enablers, value-added services, and team selling.
  • Leverages sales support resources and tools to maximize the consultative time of the SC.
  • Fully utilizes the CRM in managing sales planning, prospecting, and daily customer engagement, and expects productive use of Sysco 360 among all SCs.
  • Successfully deliver Sysco brand results and directly manage conversion opportunities within the district.
  • Support and promote all national campaigns and promotions.
  • Provide coaching, training, and timely feedback to develop consultative selling skills of sales associates.
  • Utilize CMP and QPP processes to coach performance of sales colleagues.
  • Execute territory planning and management, prioritizing relationships with top customers and high-value prospects.
  • Champion company initiatives and implement center-led strategies within the district.
  • Perform additional sales management duties including operational tasks and customer relationship management.

Requirements

  • High School education required; Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent relevant industry experience.
  • 2 or more years' experience successfully growing profitable sales in the foodservice industry.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work with various stakeholders.
  • Ability to derive insights through probing questions and collaborative problem-solving.
  • Superb organizational and project management skills, capable of executing multiple initiatives autonomously.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Proficiency in using Sysco's CRM for planning and forecasting sales growth.
  • Mastery of consultative selling, marketing principles, prospecting, networking, coaching, and negotiations.
  • Ability to coach, counsel, train, and motivate associates.
  • Strong communication skills for writing reports and business correspondence.
  • Experience in developing new business, penetrating existing accounts, and minimizing lost business.
  • Ability to research customer needs, evaluate market trends, and recommend products accordingly.
  • Knowledge of market conditions, product innovations, and competitors' products, prices, and sales.

Nice to Have

  • 5+ years' foodservice sales experience in the foodservice industry.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent; Bachelor's degree preferred.
