About the Role

As a software engineer for Airborne Systems at General Dynamics Mission Systems, you'll be a member of a cross functional team responsible for airborne computers that process and display mission data in the cockpit, crypto products for identifying friendly aircraft, and weapon control systems that enable the launch and control of precision guided weapons. The role involves working to ensure the world's most advanced aircraft maintain air superiority and information dominance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and integrate embedded software solutions for airborne systems, including computers that process mission data, crypto products, and weapon control systems.
  • Collaborate with cross functional teams to ensure software meets mission requirements and technical standards.
  • Leverage hardware specifications and interfaces to develop low-level software solutions.
  • Apply technical standards and methodologies to solve challenges creatively.
  • Lead or contribute to the full software development life cycle, including design, implementation, testing, and deployment.
  • Provide technical leadership and support to team members to ensure project success.

Requirements

  • Requires a Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering, or a related Science, Engineering or Mathematics field.
  • Requires 5+ years of job-related experience, or a Master's degree plus 3 years of experience.
  • Solid programming experience in C and C++, with knowledge of Python or Rust preferred.
  • Solid background in embedded software development, Linux, RTOS, and HW/SW integration.
  • Ability to dig into hardware specifications and leverage hardware interfaces for low-level software solutions.
  • Agile experience preferred.
  • Ability to obtain a Department of Defense Secret security clearance at time of hire.
  • U.S. citizenship is required due to the nature of work performed within the facilities.

  • Knowledgeable or familiarity with containerization (Docker or Kubernetes).
  • Expertise in applying technology and technical skills to solve challenges in creative ways.

Qualifications
