About the Role

If you are a Embedded Software Test Engineer looking for an opportunity to grow, Emerson has an exciting opportunity for you! The Measurement Solutions organization, a global leader in the development and manufacturing of process analytical equipment for liquid analysis, combustion analysis, and gas analysis, is seeking a Embedded Software Test Engineer based in our Shakopee, MN location. This position will be responsible for testing all aspects of the embedded software on the products in the Analytical Instruments engineering and development group. The ideal candidate will have great automation skills and will have experience developing test frameworks for embedded systems (microcontroller based applications preferred). This role is in the office four days a week.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and create test plans and test cases for embedded software, based on requirements and functional documentation
  • Execute test cases, perform regression testing, find and document issues
  • Perform test data analysis and prepare reports of test results
  • Provide process improvements and recommendations
  • Participate in software architecture and code reviews
  • Work with cross-functional teams including Software Development, Hardware Development, and System Architecture

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Science from an engineering school
  • Minimum four (4) years related experience
  • Experience with firmware and software test, with a demonstrated track record of repeated success in product delivery and market success
  • Well versed in the Software Development Cycle (source revision control, code reviews, issue tracking, release notes and documentation)
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States - sponsorship will not be provided for this role

Nice to Have

  • An ABET accredited engineering degree is preferred
  • Visual Studio development environment
  • C#, C/C++
  • Mastery of Word, Excel, and Visio
  • Architecting, designing, implementing test systems for embedded software applications
  • Test planning, execution, reporting
  • Change management processes and tools
  • Firmware debugging environment (IDE) and tools
  • Serial protocol interfaces: Modbus, SPI, I2C

Qualifications

  • Educational background in engineering or science
  • Experience with embedded software and test frameworks
  • Knowledge of firmware debugging tools and serial communication protocols
