About the Role

The Executive Director, Rare Disease Marketing at Acadia Pharmaceuticals will be a key commercial leader responsible for driving the U.S. launch of a potential new therapy for a rare neurodevelopmental disorder and shaping the broader strategy for Acadia's rare disease franchise. This role involves leading innovative marketing strategies, cross-functional collaboration, and supporting global expansion efforts in Rett syndrome and pipeline opportunities such as Prader-Willi syndrome, with the aim of making a meaningful impact in the lives of patients and families affected by rare neurological disorders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assess US market landscape and market insights to refine and implement best-in-class go-to-market launch plan, re-assessing as needed to drive results.
  • Lead the development of US HCP marketing strategy and launch plans in collaboration with the consumer marketing team and key functional partners such as Sales, Training, Commercial Operations, Medical Affairs, Market Access, Patient Services, and Market Research/Business Analytics.
  • Develop brand positioning, disease awareness, education narratives, and campaign development.
  • Drive HCP focused strategy and execution to promote disease state awareness and earlier diagnosis.
  • Oversee core messaging and campaign development for the brand.
  • Lead, with a matrix team, the development of a new customer model if needed for success.
  • Develop non-personal promotion strategy and digital ecosystem development.
  • Execute HCP pre-launch, launch, and post-launch tactical activities.
  • Manage HCP congress commercial strategy and execution.
  • Develop and implement KOL engagement strategy.
  • Manage relationships with advertising agencies and key vendors, ensuring deliverables are met.
  • Collaborate with MLR team for marketing strategy and tactics approval.
  • Ensure marketing programs and campaigns are executed effectively, efficiently, and within budget.
  • Define, track, and report on key metrics for strategies and tactics.
  • Support global market expansion efforts in Rett syndrome and pipeline therapies as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, healthcare, business administration, or related field; master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 15 years of progressively responsible experience within the pharmaceutical or biotech industry.
  • At least 5 years of marketing experience including launch experience.
  • Preferred qualifications in rare neurological disorders (pediatric or adult onset).
  • Strong scientific/medical aptitude with the ability to understand and communicate complex scientific concepts.
  • Strong strategic mindset and business acumen.
  • Ability to think innovatively and drive a best-in-class customer experience.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and storytelling skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to lead cross-functional teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive results and problem-solve.
  • High sense of ethics and responsibility.
  • Ability to travel as required.
