About the Role

The Brennan Center for Justice at NYU School of Law is a nonpartisan law and policy institute dedicated to improving systems of democracy and justice in the United States. It conducts rigorous research, crafts innovative policies, and advocates for them across Congress, courts, and the public. The organization works on issues such as voting rights, campaign finance reform, ending mass incarceration, and preserving constitutional protections. The internship offers an opportunity to support the Communications department's Creative team with design and administrative tasks, in an in-person setting at the New York City office.

Key Responsibilities

Assist with graphic design, archival and photo research, and administrative work including coordinating meetings and drafting routine correspondence via email.
Attend and observe substantive meetings, events, and conversations related to program work.
Produce still and motion graphics for digital channels.
Conduct extensive image and archive research, as well as research on Brennan Center issues to develop engaging graphics.
Support the development of institutional, campaign, and brand videos/graphics, including motion and still research, cataloging, and organizing visual assets.
Maintain multimedia archive including graphics, images, and videos.

Requirements

Excellent design skills and experience with Adobe applications, including InDesign and Photoshop.
Ability to work independently, be detail-oriented, energetic, punctual, and highly organized.
Current undergraduate student with a passion for the Brennan Center's issues.
Ability to submit a portfolio or PDF of best work as part of the application.

Nice to Have

Experience with motion graphics and video editing.
Previous internship or work experience in graphic design or communications.

Qualifications

Current undergraduate student.
Experience with Adobe InDesign and Photoshop.
Portfolio or sample of recent work required.

Benefits & Perks

Paid internship at $17.50 per hour.
Approximately 10-20 hours per week from September to December 2025.
