About the Role

Iowa PBS, Iowa's only statewide television broadcasting network, is searching for a Fall 2025 Social Media intern to join their emerging media division. The organization is dedicated to educating, informing, enriching, and inspiring viewers across the state through local programs, broadcast services, and educational initiatives. The internship offers an opportunity for college students passionate about creativity and digital media to gain hands-on experience, develop skills in content creation, and make a meaningful impact in the community.

Key Responsibilities

Work on graphic design techniques to extend on-air brands to online platforms, testing new content and designs to attract social media users.
Hone editing skills to create hyper-short vertical videos and collaborate on interactive and graphics-focused content for online audiences.
Develop storytelling abilities through stills, short videos, and written work to engage social media viewers in Iowa.
Collaborate closely with a diverse team of professionals, refining communication, teamwork, and project management skills.
Encounter and solve challenges related to media production, cultivating a problem-solving mindset.
Assist in creating promotional digital content for regular shows like Iowa PBS Sports and Market to Market.
Gain insights into audience engagement strategies and content preferences to connect more effectively with viewers.

Requirements

Applicants must be currently enrolled students in a degree program at an accredited educational institution.
Passion for creativity and digital media content creation.
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
Strong communication and project management skills.
Interest in developing skills in graphic design, video editing, and storytelling.

Nice to Have

Experience with graphic design tools and software.
Previous experience in social media content creation or digital media production.
Knowledge of audience engagement strategies on social media platforms.

Qualifications
