About the Role

Thompson Palm Springs is a lifestyle hotel located at the heart of Palm Canyon Drive, featuring 168 bungalow-inspired guest rooms and suites, along with 8,000 square feet of indoor meeting space and outdoor venues. The hotel caters to influential locals, globetrotters, VIP gatherings, and social events. The Group Sales Manager role involves leading group sales efforts across various regions and collaborating with multiple hotel departments to deliver exceptional service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Selling guest rooms, meeting space, and other hotel services to group customers.
  • Conducting site inspections, preparing and presenting proposals, and negotiating contracts.
  • Managing accounts and developing relationship-driven sales strategies to secure corporate meeting and incentive groups.
  • Maintaining organized documentation and reports, utilizing Hyatt systems, and working with hotel departments to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Participating actively in daily and weekly team and staff meetings.
  • Collaborating with sales, marketing, and events staff, as well as administrative assistants and other team members.
  • Providing ongoing management, prospecting, and solicitation of complex accounts with past and future corporate groups.
  • Supporting team and project leadership functions as needed under the guidance of the Director of Sales & Marketing.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of group sales and negotiating experience in the hotel industry, preferably in the luxury or lifestyle sector.
  • Proficiency with various computer systems, with experience with Envision preferred.
  • Strong selling, negotiating, business writing, and presentation skills.
  • Refined verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to travel and entertain clients as needed.
  • A genuine desire to satisfy the needs of others in a fast-paced environment.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with Envision or similar hotel management systems.
  • Previous leadership or team support experience.

Qualifications

  • Experience in group sales and negotiation within the hotel industry.
