About the Role

Replicated is a Commercial Software Distribution Platform that helps software vendors distribute their applications into self-hosted environments like VPC, on-prem, air gap, and more. The company offers a suite of tools for installation, testing, licensing, and support, enabling scalable Kubernetes application distribution into enterprise environments. The Head of Engineering role involves technical leadership, hands-on coding, and team management to drive product excellence and AI integration.

Key Responsibilities

Be hands-on with coding and architecture, driving both velocity and technical excellence through direct contribution
Drive product vision and technical strategy using engineering expertise and market understanding
Partner closely with Product to influence and shape product direction
Champion AI adoption and integration within engineering practices to enhance productivity and product capabilities
Assess incoming customer issues and personally contribute to solving complex technical challenges
Lead a team of technical leads and engineers, focusing on growth, development, and delivery
Hire, support, and contribute to the growth of the Engineering organization
Thrive in a fast-paced startup environment where priorities shift and change frequently
Develop a deep understanding of user and customer problems, advocating for and driving solutions with startup speed and flexibility
Support and develop team members, supporting their growth and delivery
Support the team through constant change and shifting priorities
Develop and implement an AI strategy for the engineering team, including tool adoption and process improvements
Own engineering deliverables and actively participate in defining technical strategy and building solutions

Requirements

Active coding experience building and delivering highly technical products, ideally for a developer audience
Experience with AI tools and technologies, with a passion for integrating AI to enhance workflows and product capabilities
Demonstrated understanding and application of modern product delivery techniques, especially iteration and value validation
Hands-on experience with deploying, managing, and/or operating Kubernetes
Experience supporting and developing individuals on engineering teams
Strong partnership skills with Product teams and ability to influence product strategy
Ability to support the team through constant change and shifting priorities in a startup environment
Excellent written and verbal communication skills to articulate technical concepts and collaborate across technical and non-technical stakeholders
Experience in open source software and cloud-native ecosystems (bonus)
Experience working on developer tools products (bonus)
Track record of successfully implementing AI solutions (bonus)

Qualifications

Experience supporting and developing engineering teams
Hands-on technical expertise in building and delivering complex products
