About the Role

Heroku Account Executives play a crucial role in driving the growth of the Heroku business and helping our Enterprise customers succeed. They build positive, trusted relationships with both key team members and executive decision-makers within their patch, and become integral in helping customers realize value from their Heroku investments. Heroku is a cloud-based platform-as-a-service (PaaS) that simplifies deploying, managing, and scaling web applications, providing a developer-friendly environment for building, deploying, and running applications without infrastructure worries.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and potential customers.
  • Understand clients' business needs and objectives to effectively drive digital transformation using Heroku solutions.
  • Develop opportunities through both warm leads and whitespace prospecting.
  • Focus on customer success to help drive growth in existing Heroku accounts.
  • Develop and drive the overall long-term strategy for the account, aligned to customer business objectives.
  • Perform account planning at assigned accounts, coordinating with various sales resources to ensure strategic alignment.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including marketing and technical support, to meet customer needs.
  • Prepare and deliver accurate quotes and proposals to customers.
  • Stay informed about industry trends and competitors in the Heroku space.
  • Understand the broader Salesforce product portfolio, and how Heroku drives strategic value in the Customer 360.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of quota-carrying software or technology sales and account management experience.
  • Experience managing the sales cycle from technology champion to the c-suite (CIO, CISO, CTO).
  • Experience selling complex technologies to primarily an IT buyer.
  • Consistent track record of over-achieving quota (top 10-20% of company) in past positions.
  • Degree or equivalent relevant experience; experience will be evaluated based on core competencies such as extracurricular leadership roles, military experience, volunteer roles, or work experience.

Nice to Have

  • Experience selling in the Cloud industry or technical software sales experience (ex: IaaS or SaaS).
  • Experience with analytics, data, databases, predictive modeling, DevOps, and/or application development.
