About the Role

This Key Account Manager role is responsible for delivering profitable organic growth within the Automotive Refinish business by managing the Commercial Transportation (CTS) market segment. The position involves managing accounts, developing strategic plans, expanding new business, and representing BASF at industry events. The role offers remote work flexibility with travel up to 75%, and is based out of Southfield, MI.

Key Responsibilities

  • Providing direct and indirect leadership and coaching to a team of employees across North America to achieve profitable growth within the CTS Market Segment.
  • Developing a sustainable and profitable CTS platform while increasing BASF's market share in this segment.
  • Influencing across various organizational units including Sales, Marketing, Supply Chain, Technical, Controlling, and Finance to ensure buy-in and execution of plans.
  • Representing BASF at key national events to position and protect the company's interests against competitors.
  • Identifying and resolving distributor and channel conflicts both internally and externally.
  • Leading cross-functional teams internally and externally across multiple levels at distributors.
  • Managing customer deals and approvals for large strategic accounts.
  • Developing and executing the North America CTS strategy to improve BASF’s position in the market.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in business, sales, marketing, or supply chain discipline.
  • At least 5 years of experience working in a distributor environment.
  • At least 5 years of experience in the automotive aftermarket.
  • Experience managing financials including P&L statements, expense control, forecasting, and sales budgeting.
  • Strong business acumen with results-driven mindset, excellent presentation skills, and integrity.
  • Skilled in managing market complexity with multiple stakeholders and demonstrating excellent interpersonal skills.

Nice to Have

  • Experience in developing and executing strategic account plans.
  • Knowledge of the automotive refinish industry and related market segments.
  • Leadership experience in a cross-functional team environment.
