About the Role

The Key Account Manager II (KAM II) is a salesperson responsible for meeting sales quotas and expense budgets for assigned clients by managing sales programs, promotional spending, distribution levels, shelf placement, and strategic planning initiatives. The role involves collaborating with clients to develop strategic plans, working with retailer associates on Headquarter calls, owning client relationships, and making decisions regarding trade funds to drive sales. The position also works closely with internal teams such as Customer Managers, order entry, claims, category management, schematics, and retail associates to increase sales volume within a market. Clients may include pioneering, regional, or Tier 3 manufacturers with varying distribution and volume levels.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive our clients' business at assigned customers by increasing distribution, sales dollars/units/share, and other KPIs while managing promotional and marketing strategies.
  • Ensure retail/merchandising execution and basic eCommerce execution.
  • Achieve targeted income and expense budgets through promotional and marketing strategies.
  • Analyze trends and results to identify growth opportunities and make recommendations to clients and customers.
  • Monitor and manage promotional spending within guidelines on assigned clients.
  • Meet budgetary goals by maintaining control and accounting of accrual and bill-back funds.
  • Manage and exceed client goals for sales, distribution, share, pricing, shelving, and promotional volume.
  • Implement strategies to pursue new opportunities and penetrate key retailer positions through headquarter calls.
  • Manage and maximize manufacturer marketing and promotional funds within financial guidelines.
  • Ensure retail pricing and order guides are updated and discrepancies corrected.
  • Secure client-approved schematics for brands and communicate with schematic, reset, and retail departments.
  • Drive incremental sales through distribution of new products and SKU maintenance.
  • Collaborate with category management to develop retailer presentations using data analysis.
  • Manage accounts to achieve targeted ACV on innovation.
  • Build and maintain effective client and retailer relationships to ensure engagement with key stakeholders.
  • Develop sales presentations to demonstrate sales accomplishments and identify opportunities.
  • Implement customer HQ calls and penetrate key retail positions.
  • Provide strategic input for annual business plans, problem solving, and ongoing customer management.
  • Communicate client goals, programs, and priorities effectively to all relevant parties.
  • Manage difficult situations and conflicts to reach effective outcomes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience.
  • 4-6 years of experience managing or working closely with key retailers, including department heads, category managers, buyers, and other stakeholders.
  • Proven experience managing high-value accounts, developing long-term relationships, and delivering sales growth and promotional execution.
  • Strong sales presentation and development skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Working knowledge of syndicated data.
  • Intermediate or advanced computer skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Conflict management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide cross-functional leadership.
  • Ability to handle a fast-paced work environment with attention to detail.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to changing projects or business environments.
  • Ability to complete multiple duties accurately amidst interruptions and deadlines.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with developing retailer presentations using data analysis.
  • Experience managing or working with a variety of trade channels including grocery, mass merchandise, specialty, convenience, drug, dollar, club, hardware, consumer electronics, and home centers.

Qualifications

  • Educational background: Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience.
  • Experience: 4-6 years managing or working closely with key retailers.

Benefits & Perks

  • Salary range from USD $77,400.00 to $96,700.00 per year.
  • Travel up to 20% is required.
  • Work performed primarily in an office environment, with sedentary requirements.
