Key Responsibilities

  • Works with Engineering Project Managers to provide cost controls support on projects.
  • Evaluate and communicate the cost impact of scope changes, contract values, cost trend impacts, allowances for design unknowns, escalation, contingency and fee structure to the department head and management.
  • Facilitate project approval in system; assist in coding and tracking of all invoices, including retainage payments; verify rates are correct per contract and the invoice.
  • Track Actuals and Commitments in detail for the project; work closely with the Project Manager to provide an updated forecast monthly for the project.
  • Provide significant project metrics as requested; provide quarterly accruals for the project.
  • Assist in creating contracts and/or work offers; manage any necessary re-classes for the project.
  • Manage documentation to be retained for project file; adapt and work through ad-hoc requests as needed.

Requirements

  • 5-8 years of relevant experience.
  • College degree in finance, accounting, construction management or business, or equivalent business experience.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, ability to apply judgment, and professionally challenge and question activity and assumptions.
  • Comfortable in financial software packages.
  • Able to communicate with Analysts and Project Managers and solve project related issues.
  • Experience levels vary by job level: 2-5 years for Specialist/Analyst, 5-8 years for Senior Specialist/Analyst, 8+ years for Lead Specialist/Analyst.
  • Intermediate level of Excel, including pivot tables and manipulation of large data sets.
  • SAP systems experience is a plus.
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time; occasional overnight travel may be required.

  • Pipeline industry experience.
  • Experience with SAP systems.
  • Proficiency in Excel, especially pivot tables and large data manipulation.
