Key Responsibilities

  • Help Cengage set up a world-class product analytics practice.
  • Work with product and technology teams to assess customer needs, use analytics tools like Amplitude to tag the digital experience, collect data, and create metrics and insights.
  • Collaborate with product owners to identify areas of the digital customer experience that need improvement.
  • Set up A/B tests to evaluate customer responses to product changes.
  • Measure the business value and customer satisfaction delivered by the digital product.
  • Lead a team of analysts and data scientists, working with global partners on analytics and product tasks.
  • Bring strategic process thinking and continual improvement to Cengage's global businesses.

Requirements

  • Highly analytical with the ability to think through problems, business processes, and metrics.
  • Ability to create, define, and implement a team vision and directive.
  • High energy self-starter, comfortable acting as a player-coach.
  • Experience working with varied team members and groups at all levels.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree or equivalent experience with a foundation in statistical and data science concepts such as Machine Learning and Predictive analytics.
  • 5+ years of analytics experience, including marketing analytics and data science.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and structured problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with analytic tools like relational databases, SQL, Excel, Python/R.
  • Ability to tell a clear story with data and translate it into business and customer implications.
  • Skilled in creating effective presentations for different audiences.
  • Knowledge of product analytics and digital marketing.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with product analytics tools like Amplitude, Content Square, Adobe Analytics.
  • Experience working with on-premise and/or cloud analytics environments such as Hadoop, AWS, Snowflake.
  • Experience with data visualization and enablement tools like Tableau, Power BI.
  • Experience in creating and assessing A/B tests for optimization.
  • Experience instructing others in analytical, statistical, and data science concepts.
  • Experience using sampling techniques to monitor and analyze performance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree or equivalent experience.

  • Base pay range of $117,100 to $152,200 USD, with potential incentive compensation for sales roles.
