About the Role

Key Responsibilities

• Operate, monitor, maintain, and respond to abnormal conditions in facilities systems including electrical, mechanical, building monitoring, and control systems.
• Track and analyze site efficiencies and energy consumption to improve operational efficiency and reduce costs.
• Manage vendor relationships, service contracts, procurement, and billing processes.
• Develop and implement operational strategies to enhance data center efficiencies without increasing uptime risk.
• Ensure compliance with all audit, industry, and company standards and manage site audits.
• Manage mechanical and electrical systems maintenance requirements and schedules in collaboration with technicians and vendors.
• Create detailed technical procedures for maintenance, emergency situations, and standard site evolutions.
• Provide technical review of procedures, standards, and policies.
• Manage the data floor and back-of-house mechanical loading capacity to optimize cooling system efficiency.
• Ensure processes are completed in a timely manner according to SLAs and data is uploaded to OSS.
• Lead training and mentoring of junior staff and ensure technicians are qualified and aware of standards revisions.
• Serve as shift manager, assigning shifts, approving time off, and evaluating staff performance.
• Manage site budgets, including CapEx and OpEx forecasting and modeling project ROI.
• Respond to emergency situations and provide exceptional customer service.
• Navigate and utilize a CMMS system effectively.
• Promote and demonstrate CoreSite’s Principles of Operational Excellence and company culture.
• Participate in special projects as assigned.

Requirements

• Expert knowledge of data center electrical, mechanical, fire life safety, and communications infrastructure systems.
• Experience managing vendor relationships, service contracts, and procurement processes.
• Project management experience from conception to completion.
• Ability to develop and implement operational strategies for efficiency and energy management.
• Strong management and interpersonal skills to lead and evaluate staff.
• Experience with creating technical procedures and reviewing standards and policies.
• Ability to manage site audits and ensure compliance with standards.
• Knowledge of CMMS systems and data center operations.
• Experience in budgeting, forecasting, and modeling project ROI.
• Ability to respond to emergency situations and provide customer support.
• Strong technical background in mechanical and electrical systems, including HVAC, power distribution, and fire safety systems.
• Excellent communication skills for team leadership and vendor interactions.
