This role involves leading and evolving the digital copy experience across Okta's digital properties, including okta.com and auth0.com, combining copywriting excellence with leadership, strategic thinking, and cross-functional collaboration.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of digital copywriters across web experiences, ensuring high-quality, cohesive, and brand-aligned storytelling.
  • Partner with Design, UX, Strategy, and Product Managers on conceptual development, ideation, and execution across digital creative briefs.
  • Work cross-functionally with Brand Strategy, Digital Strategy, Content, Campaigns, Product Marketing, Development, SEO, Web Production, and Events to bring brand and product stories to life on digital platforms.
  • Partner with the lead UX manager to drive content strategy across all projects.
  • Lead the copywriting team in collaborating with designers to create innovative storytelling experiences.
  • Collaborate in Figma alongside designers to bring UX concepts to life through copy that is clear, engaging, and action-oriented.
  • Leverage industry knowledge and understanding of different audience types to write relevant copy for okta.com and auth0.com.
  • Establish and apply the Okta voice and tone across all work; guide other writers and project owners on voice and tone.
  • Lead the team in telling product stories in a simple, interesting, and engaging way.
  • Coach and mentor junior writers, providing feedback, creative direction, and professional development.
  • QA content and manage editorial quality to ensure clarity, tone, and technical accuracy.
  • Support the team in creating, conceptualizing, inspiring, and bringing creative ideas to life; deliver and receive feedback.
  • Lead executive presentations to gain alignment.
  • Champion innovation and storytelling excellence, pushing creative boundaries to differentiate the brand in the tech space.

Requirements

  • BA in English, Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or related field; BFA/creative writing background a plus.
  • 10+ years experience in copywriting in a creative agency or client-side group, including 2+ years in a leadership or management role.
  • Deep B2B/tech experience, with strong understanding of cybersecurity or developer audiences preferred.
  • Hands-on expertise in developing creative solutions on websites and digital campaigns.
  • Extraordinary copywriting skills and strong knowledge of content strategy.
  • QA experience and attention to detail.
  • World-class portfolio of work.
  • Outstanding presentation skills and ability to produce and pitch strategic presentations.
  • Ability to apply systems thinking and understand user journeys and personas.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and confident managing multiple projects with shifting priorities.
  • Self-starter comfortable working in a collaborative, cross-functional environment with internal partners, freelancers, agencies, and production teams.

Nice to Have

  • Strong understanding of cybersecurity or developer audiences.
  • Experience with content strategy and digital storytelling.
  • Creative background such as BFA or creative writing.

Qualifications

Benefits & Perks

  • Annual base salary range between $143,000-$215,000 USD (California, Colorado, New York, Washington).

  • For candidates in Canada, salary range between $120,000-$180,000 CAD, with benefits including RRSP with a match, healthcare spending, telemedicine, and paid leave.
