About the Role

The Manager, Research will lead the Central Texas research platform, establishing themselves as a thought leader by providing market insights, analysis, and strategic storytelling about the local commercial real estate markets in Austin and San Antonio. The role involves engaging with market leaders, supporting client initiatives, managing a research team, and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to create a competitive advantage through accurate data and innovative thinking within JLL's global research group.

Key Responsibilities

  • Edit and manage production of all local market research reports and contributions to national reports.
  • Analyze and report on the local and regional economy, including employment statistics, major company activity, industry trends, and demographic shifts.
  • Maintain extensive knowledge of macro and micro factors affecting the marketplace and leverage this knowledge for business and client benefit.
  • Manage a diverse, collaborative research team, including hiring, goal setting, performance management, and training.
  • Implement and manage the overall local strategic research plan aligned with Americas research plans and business objectives.
  • Collaborate with the Research Director and senior market leadership to execute the research plan.
  • Present compelling trend analysis regularly to internal teams and clients.
  • Manage the statistical and analytical quality of data for the market.
  • Expand and improve the research platform, program, output, and staff skills.
  • Develop and share best practice standards across Austin, San Antonio, and the Americas Research group.
  • Develop strong relationships with internal and external clients and facilitate the use of research as a differentiator.
  • Work with marketing and business leaders to position research to support business development efforts.
  • Develop white paper reports on key market trends and contribute to national research reports.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business, economics, urban planning, or a related field.
  • Four or more years of experience in commercial real estate research or a closely related field.
  • Command of the local market and business with a good understanding of macro trends and historical perspective.
  • Dynamic presentation skills and experience presenting insightful content to clients.
  • High-level analytical skills and problem-solving ability.
  • Proactive and strategic thinking with the ability to lead research initiatives and align research with business goals.
  • Ability to effectively and professionally exceed client expectations and positively represent the firm.
  • Ability to multi-task, be resilient, and manage time and workload effectively.
  • Management experience and ability to lead a team and research program.
  • Ability to lead research initiatives in alignment with business and marketing objectives.
  • Desire to work within a diverse, collaborative, and driven professional environment.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with market analysis and strategic insight development.
  • Experience working within a large research group or professional services firm.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business, economics, urban planning or related field.
