About the Role

The Manager, Consumer Insights & Business Analytics at SC Johnson is responsible for developing and implementing category management strategies to drive growth and shopper conversion across various channels and customers. This role involves leveraging data, insights, and market research to create retailer-specific recommendations, influence category performance, and support new venture initiatives. The position collaborates closely with multiple teams including Sales, Marketing, and Consumer Insights to deliver profitable sales growth and category leadership solutions within a global, family-owned company committed to diversity, inclusion, and creating a better future.

Key Responsibilities

  • Translate data and insight into retailer-specific strategic and tactical recommendations and solutions.
  • Be the Category Advocate & Expert for the field and internal teams, identifying research opportunities to bring new learning to category leadership solutions.
  • Drive identification of category best practices for distribution, merchandising, shelving, and pricing.
  • Lead analysis of drivers of category performance across retailers & channels to influence development of growth and conversion strategies.
  • Lead development of shelf & space strategy including planogram guidance, cross-category shelving strategies, and space measurement.
  • Create and plan category leadership solutions that deliver profitable sales growth for retailers, including shopper and category insights across products, assortment, shelving, and merchandising.
  • Develop category-based selling stories for new items.
  • Leverage insights and resources through data sources, market research, tools, analyses, and technology to develop compelling retailer-focused strategies.
  • Partner with Shopper Insights team to facilitate research and story development as a strategic category specialist.
  • Influence annual planning by providing category insights and solutions to support category leadership objectives and growth of the New Ventures Company.
  • Anticipate how category trends will impact future performance and develop company POV/recommendations to maximize category performance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and minimum 5 years' relevant experience or an advanced degree and 3 years of relevant experience.
  • Qualified candidates must be authorized to work in the United States.
  • Ability to travel up to 10-20% of the time.
  • Proficiency in syndicated data tools, Microsoft Office Suite, and space management software tools.
  • Experience analyzing retailer-supplied point-of-sale data, retailer loyalty card data, assortment analysis tools, and store analytics.
  • Strong presentation and influencing skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to define root cause factors from data, experience, and judgment.

Nice to Have

  • Advanced degree preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in Category management, preferably in CPG and/or retail.
  • Demonstrated team leadership and development experience.
  • Experience in cross-functional team partnership.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or higher; advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of relevant experience depending on degree level.
