About the Role

The Principal Analyst, Datacenters and Energy, is a key role within S&P Global Commodity Insights, focusing on delivering qualitative and quantitative analyses of the datacenter and energy markets in North America. The role involves developing expertise in the intersection of AI, datacenter growth, and energy sustainability, providing insights to clients such as datacenter operators, investors, energy companies, and enterprises. The team collaborates across divisions to create research services that inform strategic decisions and support the energy transition.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop expertise in a new focus area within S&P Commodities Insights.
  • Create and deliver detailed market reports on the North American datacenter, infrastructure, and energy markets with a focus on North American electricity markets.
  • Collaborate across divisions to integrate diverse insights into cohesive analyses.
  • Perform quantitative analysis to support strategic insights.
  • Engage directly with clients, providing insights and solutions.
  • Utilize expertise in datacenter and energy industries to drive research initiatives.
  • Share thought leadership through written reports, webinars, and industry conferences.
  • Conduct research for client consulting engagements and deliver presentations and reports.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in the datacenter or energy industries, with prior electricity market experience preferred.
  • Ability and desire to independently drive research initiatives.
  • Strong collaborative skills.
  • Proven ability in quantitative analysis.
  • Strong client-facing skills, particularly with capital markets stakeholders.
  • Excellent written and presentation skills for effective communication.
  • Research experience in support of client consulting engagements.
  • Experience in thought leadership through webinars and conferences.
  • Fluent in English with strong communication skills.
  • Willingness to travel for client engagements and events.
