About the Role

The Mariculture tourism intern position is a temporary role based in Raleigh, NC, focused on conducting outreach and raising public awareness of the NC Oyster Trail. The intern will support efforts to develop opportunities for shellfish mariculture (marine aquaculture) tourism throughout North Carolina, including promoting experiences, developing communication products, and conducting outreach at public events.

Key Responsibilities

Promote shellfish mariculture tourism experiences for the NC Oyster Trail
Develop communication products such as social media content, blog posts, fact sheets, e-newsletters, and website updates to share opportunities for mariculture tourism
Conduct outreach at public events like coastal festivals and oyster tastings

Requirements

Strong verbal and written communication skills
Independent worker
Experience with Instagram and Facebook
Enrolled in an associate's, bachelor's, or master's degree in communications, environmental science/studies, natural resources, sociology, marine science, policy, agriculture, or related field
Experience with community outreach, communications, and/or public relations
Work schedule of 5-10 hours/week with flexibility

Nice to Have

Qualifications

Enrolled in an associate's, bachelor's or master's degree in related fields
