About the Role

The Gerald R. Ford School of Public Policy is seeking a Marketing Communications Specialist to support and amplify its work on the Democracy, Civic Empowerment, and Global Engagement (DCEGE) Presidential Initiative for the 2025-2026 academic year. The role involves enhancing engagement with audiences through various communications channels and events. The position is part of the Democracy, Civic Empowerment, and Global Engagement team, working closely with the initiative's co-chairs and reporting to the Strategic Consultant of Democratic Engagement, with guidance from the Marketing & Communications and Public Affairs teams. The Ford School is a leading policy school dedicated to the public good, inspiring leaders, conducting research, and collaborating on evidence-based policymaking.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support and amplify the work of the Democracy, Civic Empowerment, and Global Engagement Presidential Initiative.
  • Create promotional assets and design university-wide communications.
  • Help manage event coordination related to the initiative.
  • Track data on communications activities to assess engagement and effectiveness.
  • Work closely with the co-chairs of the initiative and provide creative leadership in communication efforts.

Requirements

  • Ability to create promotional assets and design communications.
  • Experience with event coordination and management.
  • Ability to track and analyze data related to communications activities.
  • Strong creativity and leadership skills in a communications context.
  • Excellent written communication skills, including the ability to craft messages for diverse audiences.

Nice to Have

  • Experience working in higher education or public policy environments.
