Job Description

About the Role

As a Marketing Director, your primary objective is to lead the marketing function for Westfield in the market, to develop short-term and long-term marketing plans that drive sales, traffic, and NOI growth. You will oversee the marketing function in terms of local marketing strategy, interpretations and execution of national marketing programs, budget allocation and management, campaign development and measurement, support local PR efforts, drive digital engagement, support retailer/brand relationships, lead the local marketing team, and ensure that talent meets business needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build and nurture relationships with internal and external partners, retail, and local community partners.
  • Oversee Westfield's marketing, promotion, and advertising efforts to drive sales, build brand awareness, and ROI.
  • Develop Westfield's annual Consumer and Content Strategy and ensure its implementation to meet marketing goals and KPIs.
  • Create and implement marketing plans for all phases of center development in collaboration with various teams.
  • Lead annual marketing strategy with the corporate marketing & PR team, including creative development, media planning, community engagement, public relations, leasing launches, and center opening.
  • Manage the center's marketing budget, including tracking and development.
  • Develop and manage local media relations plans and support local public relations for campaigns, programs, and store openings.
  • Partner with corporate marketing to hire, onboard, and manage social media agencies, ensuring content aligns with brand and KPIs.
  • Collaborate with creative partners to locally implement brand creative and campaigns.
  • Work with property and asset staff to ensure asset value creation and alignment.
  • Coordinate with national marketing on analysis, insights, brand, content, media, PR, events, and digital programs.
  • Develop and manage community relations, outreach, partnerships, and sponsorships.
  • Serve as a spokesperson, managing media and supporting crisis communications.
  • Analyze market priorities, allocate marketing resources, and translate customer insights into actionable plans.
  • Review and interpret competitor activities and trends for application to marketing initiatives.
  • Support operational duties including customer service initiatives and retailer relations.
  • Ensure center aesthetics and activations are on brand.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
  • 7+ years of marketing and/or related experience.
  • Strong business acumen, strategic orientation, and operations experience.
  • Retail or shopping center industry knowledge or expertise preferred.
  • Leadership, strategy, marketing, and financial management skills.
  • Familiarity with digital and social media platforms and content curation.
  • Experience in public relations, media relations, and crisis management preferred.
  • Exceptional communication skills, clear and professional representation.
  • Strong analytical skills in marketing/retail trends and communication principles.
  • Ability to create, execute, and manage contracts related to marketing RFPs.
  • Flexibility to work event shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, skilled at presentations and stakeholder engagement.
  • Experience in executing marketing activations and events of various scales.
  • Customer and KPI-driven mindset, capable of synthesizing data into plans.
  • Ability to travel as needed.

Nice to Have

  • Experience in public relations, media relations, and crisis management.
  • Familiarity with luxury market trends and brand awareness.

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.

Benefits & Perks

  • Compensation of $110,000 - $140,000 plus a 15% discretionary annual bonus.
  • On-site, in-person position based at Westfield Topanga, 5 days a week.
