About the Role

The HCP Marketing Senior Manager, Speaker Program works within the HCP Marketing team for Vertex's U.S. Commercial Pain Business Unit and reports to the Senior Director, HCP Marketing with direction from the Marketing Associate Director. The role involves managing and optimizing brand-sponsored Speaker Programs to engage healthcare professionals involved in acute pain treatment, supporting the launch and promotion of JOURNAVX, an oral, non-opioid medication for moderate-to-severe acute pain.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage Speaker Program's contracted vendor to ensure delivery against the scope for program administration, including defining quality and performance standards, establishing processes for questions and adjustments, and overseeing continuous improvement in execution.
  • Implement and maintain training and communications plan for Speakers and Vertex field teams on program policies and best practices.
  • Manage budget by overseeing program utilization metrics and costs, and recommend adaptations to meet financial targets.
  • Recommend program allocations for the field based on educational objectives and available budget, and partner with Field leadership for alignment.
  • Lead the process for additional speaker nominations and contracting oversight based on program demand and budget.
  • Address requests and inquiries from the field, speakers, or vendor, including clarifications on content delivery and program guidelines.
  • Establish process for HQ personnel to attend speaker events.
  • Work with analytics colleagues to assess the value and return on investment of the program annually.
  • Build recommendations for future year's Speaker Programs plan allocations and vendor adjustments through the brand planning process.
  • Perform other related duties as needed.

Requirements

  • Ability to understand the target market at a high level.
  • Broad understanding of regulatory rules and regulations.
  • Ability to understand all elements of brand strategy and its execution.
  • Exhibits ownership and broad accountability for projects and internal assignments.
  • Ability to understand insights and their implications, and apply them to tactics and business opportunities.
  • Strong knowledge of MS Office applications, including PowerPoint, Excel, and Word.
  • Experience in pharmaceutical marketing or closely related fields such as pharmaceutical sales or ad agencies.
  • Strong budget management and program management experience.
  • Understanding of peer education program principles, including content and compliance frameworks.
  • Ability to travel approximately 25% of the time.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, including comfort with KTL discussions.
  • Agile in thought and action, accustomed to fast-paced, brand-launch environments.

  • Experience with assessing impact of promotional investments.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, business, scientific area, or related field.
  • Minimum of 6 years of experience in biotech or pharmaceutical marketing, including agency management, material development, field and HCP interfaces, and CRC and compliance processes.
