About the Role

The Marketing Specialist will play a critical role in shaping and distributing Patterson-UTI Drilling's branded content across internal and external media platforms. Supporting initiatives within both the Sales/Marketing and Performance/Technology teams, this individual will drive cohesive brand messaging and enhance visibility across key audiences. This role will collaborate cross-functionally across all Patterson-UTI business units to ensure alignment with the corporate brand and strategic goals. The primary objective is to position Patterson-UTI Drilling as a market leader, promote product line development, and strengthen brand recognition throughout the industry. The position reports directly to the VP of Strategic Accounts - PDC, with a functional dotted line to the Director of Corporate Communications. The ideal candidate will be highly organized and detail-oriented, with a demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively across departments and translate complex or technical concepts into clear, engaging, and audience-appropriate messaging.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement multi-level marketing campaigns tailored to diverse business objectives.
  • Strengthen market position and enhance overall brand recognition within the client base and broader industry.
  • Optimize content performance across targeted social media platforms to increase brand and product visibility.
  • Identify and engage key audiences at the right moments to drive measurable business outcomes.
  • Develop and execute a community engagement strategy aligned with overarching corporate goals.
  • Create proactive, timely, and responsive content that reflects and upholds brand standards across all digital channels.
  • Support product and service visibility through strategic public relations efforts.
  • Enhance internal and industry-wide understanding of technical product lines through clear and accessible content.
  • Maintain and continuously improve a photo repository for use in social media, recruitment, and training initiatives.
  • Contribute to internal communications efforts and employee engagement initiatives within PDC.
  • Design, refine, and update customer-facing sales materials to support business development and client engagement.
  • Collaborate proactively with cross-functional teams to identify competitive advantages and develop content for integrated media campaigns.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with employees across Operations, Engineering, Marketing, Product Development, and other departments.
  • Stay current on social media trends and leverage marketing and software tools to maximize brand visibility and engagement.
  • Assist in the development of compelling content for value-added propositions and strategic presentations.
  • Manage and maintain a calendar of industry events to ensure timely submission of technical papers to relevant conferences.
  • Analyze operational challenges, growth strategies, and market positioning to align messaging with industry conditions.
  • Capture and communicate customer feedback to inform and enhance future product development initiatives.
  • Represent the company at key industry events, including trade shows, seminars, and forums.
  • Maintain awareness of industry trends, emerging opportunities, and competitor activity to inform marketing strategies.
  • Champion a diverse and inclusive workplace where all employees feel valued and empowered to contribute.

  • Serve as a key conduit for business-specific content shared with internal intranet and communications teams.
  • Act as a brand ambassador for Patterson-UTI Drilling, ensuring consistent adherence to the Corporate Vision and Branding Guidelines.
  • Create and deliver innovative content for ongoing marketing campaigns and website initiatives.

Requirements

  • Strong in communication, negotiation, and building relationships / networking.
  • Proficient in crafting compelling content for marketing campaigns and recognition pieces.
  • Experienced in social media, general marketing, advertising, and paid media.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment, independently or in team collaboration.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to present in front of an audience.
  • Ability to lead teams in group discussions and problem solve.
  • Excellent computer skills including Mac and PC, MS Office Suite (PowerPoint, Word, Excel), Adobe Creative Suite, social media scheduling tools, and content generation software.
  • Ability to perform simple mathematical calculations using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to travel to regional work sites, occasionally requiring extended travel outside Houston.
  • Ability to work additional hours as needed to complete specific tasks.
  • Demonstrated leadership competencies such as building relationships, developing self and others, managing vision, business acumen, drive for results, customer focus, decision quality, interpersonal skills, creative thinking, professionalism, and strategic planning.

Nice to Have

  • Master's Degree/MBA in Business Management, Engineering, Marketing, or a related field.
  • Knowledge of Patterson-UTI's offerings, products, and services.
  • Experience in Sales/Business Development, preferably in the Oil & Gas Drilling Contractor sector.
  • Ability to possess and maintain a valid Passport for international travel.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Communications, Graphic Design, Business Management, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 2+ years of hands-on graphic design experience creating visually compelling digital and print materials.
  • Must have and maintain a valid state-issued driver's license and meet company vehicle program requirements.
