Job Description

About the Role

The Account Manager is responsible for maintaining and increasing sales volume and margin with existing and new accounts for a large OEM supporting Hydraulics, Pneumatics, and Electromechanical technologies. The role involves executing sales goals and plans within designated customers or territories, securing product distribution, maintaining effective agreements, and supporting the company's Win Strategy. The position reports to the Regional Sales Manager and may involve working with divisional management and support departments to ensure customer service needs are met or exceeded.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develops and maintains strong client relationships with OEM customers and may or may not have distributor accounts while meeting position objectives.
  • Ensures Parker products are specified to maintain and increase revenue by prioritizing opportunities on an account-by-account basis to obtain optimum sales and margin results.
  • Develops and maintains comprehensive technical knowledge of group/divisional products, applications, features, advantages, and benefits, including keeping up with internal and external training and development.
  • Obtains specifications and approvals at engineering firms, major accounts, and/or distributors to develop increased sales opportunities and margins.
  • Develops and maintains comprehensive knowledge of competitive products and their activity in the marketplace, providing reports on a regular and/or monthly basis.
  • Keeps management aware of changes affecting the distribution of Parker products and participates in developing and implementing appropriate response strategies.
  • Assists divisions in planning strategies to provide the products and services required for assigned accounts.
  • Provides product training at distributor and customer levels and assists in converting competitive accounts to Parker.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (technical discipline may be required for some Parker Groups) with a minimum of 3 years of experience in direct and/or distributor sales of industrial technical products.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both oral and written.
  • Computer skills including Microsoft Office.
  • Must be able to travel overnight 50% to 70% of the time or as required.
  • Applicable product and system certification preferred.
  • Proven track record of performing or exceeding performance levels.
