About the Role

The American Heart Association is seeking a National Vice President, Content and Channel Strategy to lead the development and execution of a unified content approach across platforms. This senior leadership role involves guiding content creation, distribution, and optimization to support enterprise campaign goals, audience engagement, and emerging technologies such as AI. The position can be remote within the U.S. and offers resources for work-life balance, professional development, and a mission-driven environment dedicated to improving cardiovascular health.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leads the development of an integrated channel and content strategy that aligns with omnichannel and campaign goals across business units and audience segments.
  • Guides the creation of content for both B2C and B2B audiences, from storytelling to conversion-driven assets, ensuring performance across the full funnel: awareness, engagement, conversion, and retention.
  • Oversees the channel strategy that drives how content is modularized, adapted, and distributed across platforms such as email, social, video, web, paid media, SMS, and organic channels.
  • Ensures content is high-quality, channel-native, and audience-optimized in partnership with marketing, digital, and creative teams.
  • Champions a “make once, publish everywhere” model to maximize reach, efficiency, and performance.
  • Defines content KPIs with analytics and business teams, reviews performance, and applies insights to optimize messaging and formats.
  • Leads continuous testing and refinement to improve engagement and discoverability in emerging formats like AI Overviews, featured snippets, and voice search.
  • Collaborates with SEO on metadata, structured data, and formatting to enhance visibility and relevance.
  • Manages a team of content/channel strategists and writers focused on scalable campaign execution.
  • Oversees content budgets and agency partnerships to support production, channel strategy, and campaign priorities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience.
  • Eight (8) years of relevant experience in content strategy, campaign and channel marketing, creative leadership, in both B2C and B2B environments.
  • At least seven (7) years of supervisory experience.
  • Proven success in developing content for full funnel campaigns: awareness, engagement, conversion, and retention.
  • Strong experience leading content teams across multiple channels and formats.
  • Understanding of content performance metrics and audience segmentation strategies.
  • Experience in writing and structuring content for modern SEO, AI-powered search, and omnichannel distribution.
  • Leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Familiarity with CMS, marketing automation platforms, social publishing tools, and AI-assisted content tools.

Nice to Have

  • 10+ years of relevant experience (preferred).
  • Agency experience is a plus.
  • Advanced degree in Marketing, Advertising, Communications, or related field.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Advertising, Communications, or a related field.
  • 8+ years of experience in content strategy and channel marketing; 10+ preferred.
  • 7+ years of supervisory experience.
