About the Role

Penn State Global seeks a part-time content creation/social media correspondent intern to join their Penn State Global/Education Abroad team. The role involves creating innovative and engaging content that aligns with division and University goals, primarily focusing on social media platforms like Instagram and YouTube. The internship offers current Penn State students at the University Park campus an opportunity to develop their skills in digital content creation while supporting the university's international and educational initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create innovative and engaging content for Instagram and YouTube that highlights the exciting and educational nature of study abroad.
  • Participate in brainstorming new content ideas.
  • Research emerging content trends in the social and digital media space that can be leveraged by social channels.
  • Seek out students, alumni, faculty, staff, colleges, departments, labs, organizations, and groups who could be potential content collaborators or subjects.
  • Assist with analyzing content metrics to inform future projects.
  • Attend campus events to take photos, videos, perform interviews, and create content as needed.

Requirements

  • Be organized, creative, and self-motivated.
  • Be able to work individually as well as collaboratively.
  • Have experience and skills using various social media and/or digital platforms.
  • Be comfortable 'in front of the camera' for content that requires facilitation or interviews.
  • Have a passion for creating content that is on trend and unique.
  • Have experience with video (phone-created content counts), photography, audio, and/or animation.
  • Understand the current social media landscape.
  • Be a current Penn State student at the University Park campus.
  • Able to commit to 10-15 hours per week.

  • Samples or links to previous work across multiple media formats such as social posts, blog entries, photos, and videos.
