Principal Product Manager

About the Role

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the digital enablement strategy for the External Talent category at McKinsey, creating product vision and strategies.
• Oversee the technical development and delivery of end-to-end tech solutions, including digital buying channels and workflow automation.
• Partner closely with the category team to align digital strategies with broader category and business goals.
• Set ambitious goals, prioritize initiatives, and track progress through clear OKRs.
• Influence product portfolio direction and mentor other product managers to elevate the product practice.
• Manage the budget for the product portfolio, securing investments for new initiatives and ensuring sustainability.
• Work from concept to launch and beyond, collaborating with cross-functional teams and third-party vendors to deliver scalable, user-focused solutions.
• Shape strategies independently, see them through to completion, and ensure platforms meet security, compliance, and performance standards.

Requirements

• Undergraduate degree, advanced graduate degree (e.g., MBA, PhD), or a combination of education and equivalent work experience.
• 7+ years of industry experience, ideally with both consulting and product development backgrounds.
• High energy, good team player, responsive, quality-oriented, and comfortable operating in a fast-paced, autonomous, and ambiguous environment.
• Excellent organizational capabilities, including the ability to develop and execute strategies independently.
• Expertise in the product lifecycle, capable of uniting technical and business teams on key issues.
• Experience with vendor management systems (must) and automation (preferred).
• Outstanding knowledge of procurement processes and talent onboarding processes, products, journeys, and roles in the external talent space.
• Deep understanding of trends, user demands, and pain points to create high-value portfolio visions.
• Ability to create product-focused materials such as PowerPoint decks, Excel models, and knowledge articles.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and local office languages, with adaptability to different audiences.
• Strong problem-solving, analytical, and project management skills, capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously.
