About the Role

At Caterpillar, Inc. in Decatur, Illinois, the role of a Product Consultant for Large Wheel Loaders & Large Wheel Dozers involves acting as an expert in the business segment and machine applications. The position serves as a vital link between the Product Value Stream, Regional Resource Industries Go-To-Market Sales Teams, and Managed Accounts, ensuring seamless communication and collaboration. The role supports sales teams in achieving targets, develops and communicates customer requirements and product specifications, and influences the New Product Introduction (NPI) process to shape the future of Caterpillar's large wheel loader and dozer offerings.

Key Responsibilities

Make market-driven recommendations on Percent Industry Sales (PINS), units, and growth strategies across Resource Industries to achieve global PINS and revenue targets.
Support the development of value selling capabilities and marketing programs to meet machine unit, volume targets, PINS objectives, and price realization goals.
Lead product initiatives and price/value positioning projects across regions and global price targets.
Analyze and maintain understanding of competitors' machine offerings, merchandising strengths, weaknesses, and tactics.
Act as the 'Go to person' for issues related to achieving sales plans, including pricing, product availability, and coverage.
Serve as the global voice of market input to the WW Product Value Stream Manager and NPI process.
Execute NPI workstream deliverables within given programs.
Stay informed about industry trends, technological changes, and regulations affecting the competitive environment.
Act as the Value Selling champion to communicate and demonstrate Caterpillar's competitive position in the sales process.
Develop and deploy product application and value selling training for Caterpillar, dealers, and customers.
Consult with stakeholders on machine selection, operation, and application.

Requirements

A degree or relevant work experience.
Extensive experience in product, commercial, or product support functions.
Knowledge of Caterpillar products, services, and go-to-market approach.
Strong decision-making and critical thinking skills.
Effective communication skills across diverse audiences.
Negotiation skills and ability to collaborate constructively.
Relationship management techniques to maintain healthy stakeholder relationships.
Knowledge of value selling principles and practices.
Ability to analyze market data and competitor offerings.
Willingness to work full-time at Mossville, IL, Decatur, IL, or Tucson, AZ with up to 30-40% travel.
