About the Role

The Product Manager, Expert at PG&E is responsible for leading Agile product delivery for new and existing technology products and operational processes related to Wildfire and Emergency Operations. The role involves developing and executing business plans that align customer needs, market potential, technology readiness, and regulatory policies to deliver demand-side products to PG&E's customers. The position requires managing product strategy, content, evaluation, and continuous improvement within a matrix organization, serving as a subject-matter expert for the product.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage existing behavior change products, develop new products, and sunset products at the end of their lifecycle.
  • Identify and evaluate existing and emerging energy-related technologies and/or products.
  • Work with manufacturers and service providers of energy products to influence the development of new offerings.
  • Articulate product goals and mission to key stakeholder teams to ensure market needs are met.
  • Identify product improvement needs based on customer research, marketing and sales feedback, measurement and evaluation reports, and internal ideation and gap analysis.
  • Manage all key company stakeholders and oversee development milestones with transparency; involve necessary stakeholders for sign-off processes.
  • Review all product deliverables to ensure completeness, relevance, and customer satisfaction.
  • Assess competitive offerings and substitutes through market surveillance and identify the unique, sustainable value of PG&E's offerings.
  • Develop business cases to identify technical and commercial levers that drive adoption decisions.
  • Develop RFPs and IT estimates for product improvements.
  • Test product or service offerings in the market or in simulation.
  • Develop policies and procedures for the product.
  • Create product briefs detailing incentive levels, technology information, verification, service offering, and go-to-market strategy.
  • Support marketing and sales as the subject matter expert, providing content and technology information.
  • Support regulatory activities by writing testimony, responding to data requests, meeting with regulators, and providing content for regulatory filings.
  • Apply Agile methodologies to research and define user problem statements, use cases, and functional requirements.
  • Conduct user acceptance testing and product demo sessions to ensure deliverables meet acceptance criteria and desired outcomes.
  • Promote continuous improvement through retrospectives and lessons learned.
  • Support creation and delivery of training for end users, including documentation and presentations.
  • Provide regular updates to leadership on project status, successes, and lessons learned.
  • Leverage relationships with Directors and Managers across functions.
  • Staff a rotating on-call shift in the Emergency Operations Center for PSPS event planning and execution.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science in Business, Economics, Marketing, Psychology, or equivalent experience.
  • 8 years of related experience or equivalent.
  • Experience leading Agile product delivery for technology products and operational processes.
  • Ability to develop and execute product roadmaps and manage complex products.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Experience with benchmarking, market surveillance, and competitive analysis.
  • Ability to develop business cases, RFPs, and technical estimates.
  • Experience conducting market testing and developing policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of Agile methodologies, user acceptance testing, and continuous improvement practices.

Nice to Have

  • Masters Degree or equivalent experience.
  • Experience with ownership of large budgets.
  • Ability to influence large and complex product initiatives across multiple lines of business.
  • Experience using and managing technology within Palantir Foundry.
  • Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) Project Manager/Product Owner certification.
  • Advanced project management and change management skills.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in relevant field or equivalent experience.
  • 8 years of related experience.
