Key Responsibilities

  • Define and prioritize the roadmap for [Product], aligning with the overall IT and business strategy and goals.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements and understand their needs, translating them into clear and actionable product specifications.
  • Lead a high-performing Agile data product team, providing guidance, mentorship, and support to ensure the team's success in delivering high-quality data products, while promoting a collaborative and innovative culture within the team.
  • Work closely with data scientists and engineers to ensure the successful development and delivery of data products, ensuring they meet high quality standards and deliver on time.
  • Lead the completion of change management activities across functional partners and ensure adherence to the organization's risk, controls, compliance, and regulatory requirements.
  • Understand the data needs to design and implement the data architecture and data model for a scalable data driven product organization.
  • Conduct market research and competitive analysis to identify trends and opportunities in the data product space, ensuring our products remain competitive and innovative.
  • Lead end-to-end product delivery processes including intake, dependency management, release management, product operationalization, delivery feasibility decision-making, and product performance reporting, while escalating opportunities to improve efficiencies and functional coordination.
  • Manage program/feature dependencies across multiple teams, scrum teams, functions, divisions, and stakeholders.
  • Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the success and impact of our data products, making data-driven decisions to drive continuous improvement.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for all data [Product]-related inquiries, providing guidance and support to internal teams and external stakeholders, including strategies for leveraging the data product.
  • Create Agile work items to elaborate the needs for functional additions, enhancements, or defects, ensuring work items have a clear definition of done, and prioritize work each sprint / quarter / year.
  • Provide demonstrations of platform features to stakeholders outside the feature team.
  • Collaborate with the Scrum Master and Technical Lead to ensure epics and user stories include all requirements and are tagged with estimates.
  • Participate in key agile ceremonies such as daily stand-up, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.
  • Accept user stories and work items of the squad and provide actionable feedback on stories that don't meet acceptance criteria.
  • Champion Agile Ways of Working within the division/business unit and participate in sessions to improve agile adoption and best practices.

Requirements

  • BA or BS Degree in a relevant field (e.g., computer science, data science, business analytics) with relevant insurance industry, insurance brokerage, and/or financial services experience; a master's degree is a plus.
  • 5+ years of experience as a Product Owner or similar role, in an agile environment, preferably in a data or analytics domain.
  • Demonstrated success working independently in a matrix management model and collaborating with stakeholders and virtual teams across global locations.
  • Strong understanding of data management practices, including data privacy, data quality, data architecture, and modeling.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate complex requirements into actionable product specifications.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, manage timelines, and deliver high-quality results.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders at all levels.
  • Experience applying Data Protection rules to data.
  • Familiarity with the Microsoft stack and technologies such as Microsoft Azure, Snowflake, Collibra, and PowerBI.
  • Experience with data visualization tools and techniques is a plus.
  • Knowledge of the Acord data model is a plus.
