Job Description

About the Role

The Cost Controls Specialist is primarily responsible for leading and assisting in the development, population, and maintenance of project schedule and cost control systems necessary to monitor, control, and report on project performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and assist in conformation of estimate to project schedule and cost management systems at various project stages and levels of detail
  • Lead and perform weekly and monthly cost forecast exercises
  • Lead and perform continuous cost performance monitoring and reporting on active projects
  • Assist with feedback loop of cost performance data and other information into estimating process
  • Build cost and schedule performance baselines to include well defined scope, assumptions, deliverables, Work Breakdown Structure, and resource-loaded schedule
  • Performs schedule monitoring, including identifying critical activities and updating functions for specific applications, disciplines or specialty
  • Prepares schedules, staffing, and quantity progress/performance reports for assigned projects
  • Support PMs in managing procurement actions (accruals and committed cost analysis)
  • Perform forward-looking analysis on the project and develop accurate Estimate-at-Completion (EAC) for detailed project completion costs utilizing multiple forecasting methods to calculate Estimate-to-Complete (ETC)
  • Lead and perform identification of cost trends for management attention
  • Track, review and incorporate internal and external changes
  • Effectively communicate and report current project status in relation to the project performance baseline; include reasons for deviation and assist with implementation of corrective action plans
  • Interface with standard company business systems (Primavera P6, InEight Suite, Microsoft Dynamics etc.)

Requirements

  • 5+ years' experience working in the Engineering, Procurement and Construction Industry
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Economics or related degree
  • Has in-depth experience, knowledge, and skills in own discipline
  • Works independently with minimal guidance and usually determines own work priorities
