Job Description

About the Role

The Project Coordinator will be responsible for effective advising and implementation of a major program and student success initiative aimed at supporting the retention and achievement of a diverse population of Veterans pursuing their first undergraduate degree. The role involves collaborating closely with the Director to advance the program's mission within the Office of Academic Engagement at Washington State University, located in Pullman, WA.

Key Responsibilities

  • Advising and counseling students to support their academic and personal success
  • Designing and delivering impactful student programming
  • Serving as a liaison between students and University faculty, supervisors, and both internal and external stakeholders
  • Monitoring and evaluating student services and operational effectiveness
  • Supervising a team of undergraduate and graduate student workers who provide essential services
  • Driving the mission and strategic plan of the organization by coordinating operations, cultivating opportunities, strengthening stakeholder relationships, and advancing strategic initiatives

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and three (3) years of professional work experience in student services or related education/experience
  • Experience leading or directing the work of others
  • Demonstrated experience working successfully with students, faculty, staff, administrators, and/or the public
  • Experience with programming, student services, and assessment
  • Broad knowledge of and work experience with student transition issues and retention related to the target population
  • Demonstrated computer skills including working knowledge of Office 365
  • Ability and willingness to work some weekends and evenings

Nice to Have

  • Master's degree in education or related field
  • Experience with programs serving the target populations
  • Conflict and crisis management experience
  • Ability to work effectively and positively in a highly collaborative environment
  • Well-developed written, verbal, organizational, time management, and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated and extensive problem-solving and decision-making skills

Qualifications

  • Positions require a Bachelor's degree and three (3) years of professional work experience in student services or related education/experience
  • A Master's degree in a related field may substitute for one (1) year of experience
  • Experience working successfully with students, faculty, staff, and the public
  • Experience with programming, student services, and assessment
