About the Role

The Project Coordinator (FGM) in Aswan is responsible for planning, managing, and monitoring the 'ASWAN ASPIRE: Together Against FGM' project, which focuses on SRH and protection from violence, including harmful practices such as Female Genital Mutilation. The role involves working closely with local partners and technical advisors to ensure timely and quality implementation of the project, aiming to empower girls and young women, raise community awareness, and challenge cultural beliefs related to gender roles and violence against girls.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, manage, and monitor the 'ASWAN ASPIRE: Together Against FGM' project to ensure it meets its objectives with high quality.
  • Work closely with local partners and technical advisors to facilitate project activities and implementation.
  • Engage with community members, including parents, family members, community and religious leaders, and medical staff, to promote awareness and change perceptions on gender roles and harmful practices.
  • Coordinate community mobilization and youth-led activities to empower girls and young women.
  • Ensure timely reporting and documentation of project progress and challenges.

Requirements

  • Experience in project management, preferably in community development or health projects.
  • Strong understanding of issues related to gender, violence prevention, and harmful practices such as FGM.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse community stakeholders and local partners.
  • Excellent communication and coordination skills.
  • Fluency in Arabic; knowledge of English is an advantage.

Nice to Have

  • Previous experience working in Upper Egypt or similar cultural contexts.
  • Knowledge of SRH (Sexual and Reproductive Health) issues.
  • Experience with community mobilization and youth engagement.

Qualifications

  • Relevant educational background in social sciences, health, or related fields.
  • Previous experience in project coordination or community development roles.
