About the Role

The Project Coordinator - Health & Human Services assists in managing and overseeing various projects within the CIT Health & Human Services department. The role involves maintaining project documentation, tracking progress, facilitating communication among stakeholders, and ensuring compliance with HIPAA and confidentiality standards. The position supports the mission, vision, and values of the Cowlitz Indian Tribe and the department, working in a team environment to achieve shared goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assists in developing project plans, ensuring accurate timelines, budgets, and resource allocation.
  • Organizes and manages tasks to facilitate the achievement of project milestones.
  • Maintains current and accurate project-related documents; tracks the progress of projects and reports concerns to HHS leadership.
  • Serves as liaison between team members, stakeholders, and external partners to ensure clear and effective communication.
  • Schedules and participates in project meetings; prepares agendas and takes minutes.
  • Collaborates with team members to achieve project goals and objectives.
  • Completes project administrative duties, such as managing invoices, purchase orders, and inventory reports.
  • Keeps leadership informed of the status of HHS-related activities by attending meetings, providing verbal updates, and submitting reports.
  • Adheres to relevant regulations and standards, including confidentiality and data protection requirements.
  • Coordinates with HHS Leadership on the improvement and expansion of HHS programs and services.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by participating in seminars, educational workshops, classes, and conferences.
  • Travels to multiple CIT sites to facilitate project coordination as needed.
  • Works collaboratively in a team environment to achieve shared goals.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Associates Degree in Business or Public Administration, Project Management, Healthcare Administration or related field.
  • Two years related experience in project coordination or management.
  • Valid drivers license is required when driving for work-related purposes.
  • Must be able to successfully pass a background screening / investigation according to the established requirements.
  • Knowledge of traditional forms of government and tribal customs and traditions.
  • Skills in program assessment, planning, program evaluation and community organization.
  • Skill in operating various word-processing, spreadsheet and database software programs in a Windows environment.
  • Skill in preparing and presenting operational reports.
  • Ability to develop and present persuasive and informative presentations on health programs.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to interact and maintain good working relationships with individuals of varying social and cultural backgrounds.
  • Ability to communicate efficiently and effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment.

Nice to Have

  • Certification as a Project Management Professional (PMP) or Associate (CAPM) preferred.
  • One year experience working within American Indian and/or Alaska Native communities, preferred.

Qualifications

  • Associates Degree in Business or Public Administration, Project Management, Healthcare Administration or related field.
