About the Role

The Project Manager 2, Cancer Strategy, Planning & Implementation at BC Cancer is responsible for leading and coordinating strategic initiatives related to cancer care redevelopment projects across the province. This role involves analyzing clinical requirements, developing project plans, and supporting the implementation of initiatives aligned with BC's Cancer Action Plan. The position is part of the Implementation Team within BC Cancer's broader effort to transform cancer care through strategic planning, stakeholder engagement, and project management, working alongside top providers and researchers to make a positive impact on patients' lives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Establish detailed project charters, plans, and objectives to outline timelines and project deliverables.
  • Execute project plans according to methodologies, ensuring successful and coordinated completion of project components.
  • Facilitate consensus with stakeholders and ensure readiness for project implementation.
  • Track project progress, monitor metrics, and report on project status and barriers encountered.
  • Make decisions and recommendations regarding project scope and necessary changes to facilitate successful outcomes.
  • Develop and monitor project budgets, report variances, and adjust operations or staffing as needed.
  • Provide supervisory guidance and direction to staff, including hiring, termination, and handling discipline problems.

Requirements

  • A level of education, training, and experience equivalent to a Master's Degree in Health Services Administration, Business Administration, or relevant health care discipline.
  • A minimum of seven (7) years of recent, related experience in project management and stakeholder consultation.
  • Project Management Professional designation considered an asset.
  • Experience or working knowledge of information technology management, including procurement and deployment of devices and technology.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the impacts of settler colonialism and systemic racism on Indigenous Peoples, including commitment to Indigenous Cultural Safety and Humility.
  • Understanding of legislative obligations and provincial commitments related to Indigenous rights and anti-racism in healthcare.

Nice to Have

  • Experience or working knowledge of quality improvement methodology, change management, and chronic disease management.
  • Excellent communication skills for functioning within a complex interdisciplinary environment.
  • Computer literacy with word-processing, spreadsheet, presentation, project management, and database applications.

Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Health Services Administration, Business Administration, or relevant health care discipline.
  • Seven or more years of recent project management experience.
  • Project Management Professional designation (asset).
