This position can be hired as either a Project Manager I or Project Manager II depending on experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create, staff, and lead project teams by providing leadership, oversight, delegation, and coordination with various internal and external organizations providing services to the project.
  • Guide matrixed members of the team daily and interface with functional leaders regarding placement, development, and conflict resolution.
  • Establish and maintain communications among project and program stakeholders by structuring, leading, or assisting in project-related meetings to ensure open communication.
  • Prepare, communicate, and report monthly project status, kickoff meetings, weekly and monthly required communication.
  • Assure Project Plans and reporting means are developed and communicated according to standards and procedures.
  • Plan assigned project(s) including scope, schedule, cost, safety, and quality aspects.
  • Champion the process of project planning including scope definition, estimating, schedule formation, monitoring, cost control, procurement strategies, vendor selection, start-up and commissioning plans, and project closeout.
  • Execute projects according to plans within approved scope, cost, and schedule constraints, including objectives, roles, responsibilities, deliverables, Work Breakdown Structure, risk, quality, safety, environmental, security, and data management plans.

Requirements

  • Project Manager I: Associate's Degree AND 2 years minimum related experience OR High School / GED AND 5 years minimum related experience.
  • Project Manager II: Bachelor's Degree AND 5 years minimum related experience OR High School / GED AND 9 years minimum related experience.
  • Experience in project management, decision making, critical thinking, and problem solving.
  • Ability to lead project teams and coordinate with multiple internal and external organizations.
  • Knowledge of project planning, scheduling, cost controls, and risk management.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders and management.

Nice to Have

  • Transmission or Distribution Substation Experience
  • Current Duke Energy Contractor Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Certified Associate of Project Management
  • Professional Engineer
  • Configuration Management II Professional (CM2-P)
  • Project Management Professional
  • Utility Technical Certifications or Training
  • Working knowledge to proficiency in project management, scheduling, and cost controls
  • Experience in utility construction management and risk management
  • Proven collaborative team member

Qualifications

  • Associate's Degree or High School / GED with relevant experience for Project Manager I
  • Bachelor's Degree or High School / GED with relevant experience for Project Manager II
